REFASHIONING CULTURE.

LGVFULLblk.png

What if we let go of fast fashion in order to care for our planet?

What if we thought of fashion as an exercise in re-imagining culture?

What if we preserved, restored, and redesigned vintage for all sizes?

What if we fell in love with textures and feeling good inside our clothes?

What if we used textiles to teach us women's histories and labor rights?

What if fashion could be feminist art?

About Dr. Kimberly B. George, Founder of LGV | Writer | Scholar

I love the intersection of vintage fashion, feminism, & culture.

But I have always been in tension as to how to love things that, in practice, are often in contradiction. Fashion as a global industry is anti-feminist. It harms the planet. It exploits women of color textile workers. It enforces fatphobia and false beauty hierarchies.

I dream of remaking fashion and refashioning culture:  Letting our clothing be a practice of art, justice, love, restoration of past threads, and creative expression for everyone.

I created LGV Clothing to be a thought space, a journey, an experiment.

It is where, as a scholar and artist, I quilt together my love of teaching "vintage" feminist texts and my joy in restoring, styling, and selling vintage textiles.
